Yes! But, I was basically just standing over the dogs and dropping the ball from right next to the camera (then prying it back out of Koira's jaws because she wanted to run off and chomp the ball). I think it makes it easier, since you know when the ball is being dropped, so can hit the shutter fast enough.
This put a big smile on my face. Not easy to do these days.
